Have you had a look at The Bay Bride. A local production and well worth reading - online. (link above)
Every now and then they conduct 'Mini Interviews' with local Celebrants and just recently it was my turn.
Following are my answers to their questions -
Q: What makes you stand out from the rest?
Lena - My easy going, friendly nature. When we first meet, my aim is to make sure everybody is at ease with me and is comfortable in my presence.
I am comfortable with who I am, have the confidence to be unique and to let my individuality shine through. I make couples aware that I am prepared to go the extra mile for them and take time to build a genuine rapport with them.
I'm not afraid of a challenge and am prepared to listen carefully to what each couple is saying. I give them time and space to explain their own thoughts, feelings and ideas.
I consider myself to be honest and if I make you a promise, I'll do my very best to keep it.
So, I assure you that with you and your partner and me on your team, your Wedding Ceremony will be a true reflection of you. There's only one of you in the whole wide world and your wedding should reflect that. We're all in this journey together - so let's enjoy it!
Q: What do you provide your Brides and Grooms with at their ceremony?
Lena - After I have spent all the time necessary to create your perfect ceremony and the big day is finally here, I will also provide -
. Signing table (decorated) and chair (with white cover and coloured sash to co-ordinate with your colour scheme.
. A lovely 'Welcome to our Wedding' sign - (white and gold with black lettering)
. PA system through which you can also play your chosen music. Lapel mike for Groom.
. Carpet squares for you to stand on (no more high heels sinking into grass or sand)
. Professional presentation of your Ceremony - delivered with grace and humour.
. A printed copy of your Wedding Ceremony, with scrap booking embellishments, in a special folder.
. Commemorative Marriage Certificate. (with envelope)
. Red Carpet - As my fees are very competitive and to keep the fees down for you, I have two price structures - one with and one without the red carpet.
. All Government legalities complied with - documents forwarded to the Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages next business day.
. The option for you to include your completed application form for your official government Marriage Certificate with the legal documents from your ceremony. This means that you do not have to provide the required ID documents. Please contact me for a further explanation.
. I bring a 'roadie' to assist me with the PA system, music and anything else you might need him for.
. And finally, I bring a smile, good humour and a calming influence for any nervous Grooms.
Q: Any special advice for couples preparing to get married?
Lena - Please book your Marriage Celebrant at the same time as you book your Venue.
Many couples make the mistake of leaving it to the last minute and find their preferred Celebrant already has an engagement on their chosen date.
Spend as much as you can afford on a really good photographer. The day goes so fast and a professional photographer will capture special moments that you might miss.
Don't stress! Planning a wedding is a mighty undertaking and can at times overwhelm you.
I will make the ceremony planning as stress-free as possible, but there will be other aspects of your planning that may threaten to take over your life. Don't let it! Have reliable girlfriends/mates you can call on when you need help, extra jobs done or a shoulder to cry on.
Enjoy the journey and relax on the day - you are marrying the man of your dreams!
